Book Review: Sacrificial Nights

imageThe writing team of Boston-Manzetti is a poetic tour de force that cannot be denied. Sacrificial Nights is a testament to this, grabbing you from page one, dragging you into its dark and seedy world woven with twisted characters, horrific happenings, and powerful, memorable imagery. When these two masters, each themselves Bram Stoker Award Winners, blend their voices together, the result is utterly fantastic!

Sacrificial Nights is a great concept that is not only a collection of poems, but creates a poetic novella when read from start to finish as it is meant to be read. I absolutely love this concept and was more than pleased when reading Sacrificial Nights to discover that Boston-Manzetti realize this concept to an astonishing effect, creating not just a superb collection of collaborative poems, but a truly exquisite work of art.

If you are a fan of Bruce Boston or Alessandro Manzetti then you have likely already bought this or are going to. But if you are new to either of these great writers, buy this, read it, but don’t stop there. Go forth and explore the individual works of both of these fantastic, award-winning authors.

Cheers for Boston-Manzetti’s Sacrificial Nights!

Sacrificial Nights is available now in ebook and Paperback editions.

An Update on Lazarus

Hi all! Here's a quick update on where things are with my forthcoming novella, Feeding Lazarus:

First, this is still a working cover, but I've had a few moments recently to tinker on it and wanted to share the changes. It needs back cover text of course, and I'm still tweaking the front image to make it pop, as well as fine tuning the title text to make it more readable, but I do feel it's getting closer to where I want it to be.

Also, the beta version of the book will be ready soon for anyone who'd like to be part of the process by doing a beta read. For those interested, free copies will be available in your choice of format. And yes, that includes a limited number of print copies for the e-reading impaired, or for those who just prefer a physical book. If you do request a printed beta copy, (due to the cost) all I ask is that you are sincere in your intent to read the book and provide honest feedback. I will be including a brief questionnaire in all versions to make this process simple for everyone.

Oh, and to all of my beta readers who provide honest feedback by completing the questionnaire, I will show my undying gratitude by giving away signed copies of the final print version once it's published! There's a limited number of beta slots available, so if interested, message me here or by email: rafegrayson@gmail.com.

On a side note, I'm (finally!) starting a newsletter (courtesy of Mailchimp) in order to better provide updates concerning future releases and publication announcements. New editions are anticipated quarterly. Click HERE to opt in!

In My Own Blurbs Pt. 3: Feeding Lazarus

Okay folks, I’ve kept you in suspense long enough. Here’s the rough draft blurb for my novella, “Feeding Lazarus.” If you missed the other two blurb posts, you can check them out here: Pt. 1 and Pt. 2.

The MS that goes along with this blurb is nearly finished. I’m rounding out final revisions and will start submitting it to publishers very soon. If all goes well, we’ll hopefully see it published in a year or three! Okay,  enough stalling then. Here it is. Enjoy!

Daniel Jacobs is just your typical thirteen-year-old boy. He’s dealing with the onset of puberty and struggling to fit in—the kind of kid who’s surrounded by monsters and has a penchant for setting things on fire…

You see, Daniel lives in a darkening world of visceral horror. He awakens each day to find himself trapped in the onslaught of two very real nightmares. At school, he plays the role of loner and social outcast and suffers from a ritual of torment at the cruel hands of three resident bullies. At home, the madness appears to be even worse. His father’s been missing for years, replaced by a seemingly dangerous man—an alcoholic ex-convict who’s been secretly beating his mother.

When Daniel finds a dead body at an abandoned construction site—a dead body which just might be returning to life—his world is going to change. But will this grisly discovery be the key to Daniel’s salvation, or is it just another nightmare waiting to drag him straight to the pits of Hell?
